Kind Music of North Carolina

Break Me Off Some Bluegrass is the new release from Lowcountry Boil Bluegrass Band. It features bluegrass legend and fiddler extraordinaire Vassar Clements. Vassar has been jamming with a number of bands lately and it is great to see him backing the next generation of bluegrass pickers.

The band hails out of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and includes some of the best young talent around. The group is keeping the spirit of old-time bluegrass music alive while adding more of a high-energy edge to the genre of music.

The new release blends old-time bluegrass with a fresh new energy combined with an endearing lyric. The first track, "Shamrockin'," will get you jiggin' with its lively celtic beat. "My Time To Fly" has a high lonesome feel. Vassar accentuates this cut beautifully on fiddle. "Once Upon a Time" has a sweet folky sound reminiscent of Neil Young's "Comes a Time." The cut "Sibling Rivalry" emphasizes the struggles and strengths two brothers experience with a sense of realistic brotherly love. "Low Country Boil (with Salsa on the Side)" features the banjo with a jazz twist.

It is good to see the spirit of American music still stirring in the soul of the next generation. Judging from the tremendously positive support these guys have enjoyed, we should be hearing a lot more from these Lowcountry boys.
