The Daly Planet Blues Band

Searching out new frontiers on traditional music forms is indeed important to emerging Southeast artists The Daly Planet. A band in whose members have been sworn into the round table of constant creation and experimentation.

Well crafted songs and superior musicianship form the basis of this sound which includes bluegrass, classic rock, jazz, and especially the blues. Brothers Jevon and Gavan Daly formed the foundation of this band over 17 years ago on the beaches of Hilton Head Island, S.C. Over the years the boys grew and explored such musical greats as John Coltrane, The Grateful Dead, Miles Davis, The Band, The Allman Brothers, and Weather Report.

Listen to front man Jevon Daly on lead guitar as he takes the band on a journey that reaches many different levels and climatic points. Gavan Daly handles percussion with his core-style drumming swing and boom. Replacing father Mike Daly on bass is Vermont's Jeremy Bitler, who brings a new energy and many diverse influences to the band. Completing the sound is 16 year old prodigy Benjamin Vaught on rhythm guitar. His youthful enthusiasm and talent are most impressive.

One of the most ambitious and up coming bands around, The Daly Planet has already released two CD's of original music. Keep It In The Family was released in the summer of 1996 and was recorded over a three-day period; featuring 15 original jam-heavy tracks. Working My Troubles Away was released in the fall of 1997 and showcases the band's many diverse influences and creative song arrangement.

Live performances are what is most important to this motivated band. Shows are full of energy, dancing, heavy improvisation, and lengthy jams. The Daly's perform cosmic originals and vintage covers of more than 50 tunes. They often bring their audiences through a wave up ups and downs. One thing is for sure: The Daly Planet will leave you floating around in a world you won't want to leave.
